Esthetic crown lengthening is a periodontal procedure to reshape the gums in order to enhance your smile. This procedure is the primary treatment for “the gummy smile” or “short front teeth,” which is when an excess amount of gum tissue shows during smiling.

The “gummy smile” develops due to inadequate movement of the gumline during the process of normal tooth eruption. This leaves healthy tooth structure underneath the gum tissue and may compromise the esthetics and long-term health of these teeth.

This surgical procedure involves altering the superficial gum tissues as well as the underlying supporting bone, which creates a stable, long-lasting result that increases the size of the teeth naturally. Though not necessary, this procedure may be followed by restorative treatment such as crowns or veneers that further enhance the smile.

The Smile Lift can be done in a single treatment visit to create a more attractive smile that is visible immediately following completion of the procedure.
