About Sedation Dentistry

In order to alleviate your anxiety about dental treatment, we offer multiple options for sedation including oral and intravenous methods.

Sedation dentistry involves the use of sedative medications in order to promote relaxation in the dental office while undergoing dental procedures. In our office, we utilize sedation methods that are safe and effective. Our staff Registered Nurse (RN) monitors all sedations in addition to each of our periodontists, who have advanced anesthesia training in order to provide sedation in our office.

Oral Sedation is the use of a pill or tablet taken by mouth before the procedure. Intravenous Sedation involves an IV line, through which sedative medications are used. The benefits of sedation include relaxation, anxiolysis (reduce anxiety), sleeping, reduced gag reflex, and the feeling that time is moving faster. Due to these effects, any patient being provided sedation in our office is required to have an escort that can be with them during and after the procedure and to transport them to and from the procedure.
