Facilitating Orthodontic Therapy

The following orthodontic treatments are performed at our office:
Canine Exposure – The uncovery of a tooth that has not come in on its own or erupted into the mouth. This procedure enables the orthodontist to have anchorage to move the tooth into position.
Circumferential Supracrestal Fiberotomy (CSF) – The severing of the elastic fibers that restrict tooth movement and increase the risk of relapse (movement of the tooth back to its original position prior to braces). This procedure is performed near the end or after completion of orthodontic treatment to aid in stabilization of long-term tooth positioning.
Frenectomy – The relocation of the attachment of the lip away from the gumline in order to allow closure of spaces between teeth, facilitate formation of healthy supporting gum tissues, and prevent development of future gum recession.
Gingivectomy – Occasionally, the gum tissues grow excessively with orthodontic treatment, which limits the completion of orthodontics. We remove this excess tissue to provide access for normal, daily hygiene and facilitate ideal orthodontic treatment outcomes.
Temporary Anchorage Device (TAD) Placement – TADs are placed to speed along traditional orthodontic treatment. TADs provide anchorage for the orthodontist to move teeth more quickly and predictably.
Surgically Facilitated Orthodontic Treatment (SFOT) – A periodontal procedure performed in combination with orthodontic treatment which can expand the range of orthodontic movement by softening the jaw bone, thus speeding up the tooth movement process by up to 50%. This procedure is also known as Surgically Assisted Osteogenic Orthodontics (SAOO), Periodontally Accelerated Osteogenic Orthodontics (PAOO), or Wilckodontics.
